The Sisters Network of
Central New Jersey (SNCNJ) is an affiliate chapter of the Sisters Network®
Inc. A National African American Breast Cancer Survivorship Organization.
Sisters Network,
founded in 1994, is the first and only National African American Breast Cancer
Survivorship Organization in the United States. It serves as a critical resource
for African American women battling breast cancer.
SNCNJ, formed in January
2000, was created in response to the need for African American cancer support
organizations in the Central New Jersey area.
In 2000 and 2005,
SNCNJ, the 24th chapter of the National organization, won the “Chapter
of the Year Award.”

SNCNJ founders, Dorothy
Reed, Pearl Grace (deceased), Lareatha Payne, and Rosa Davis through their
own collective experiences with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy,
bring a complete, personalized perspective of the breast cancer experience
to the organization.
The following
officers are breast cancer survivors: Dorothy Reed, President, Lareatha
Payne, Vice President, and Rachel McDuffy, Office Manager.
Monthly SNCNJ survivor
support meetings are open to all women of color. Additionally, five major projects
are completed yearly. SNCNJ targets our community in earnest effort to raise
awareness of breast cancer.
